Dopplr - another example

Another good example is Dopplr. Like Etherpad, the founders made it big by selling their product to a larger corp (in this case Nokia). They didn't even shut it down; it just dies the death of the never-updated-blog and no-new-features. At least if they shut it down there would be an impetus for a data export functionality.

Eventwax Never Shut Down

Hi,

I am Kevin from EventWax. It has been continuously operating since 2006.

I just wanted to clarify for your readers that eventwax.com never actually shut down--though the original owners did send out an email warning it would happen. But, we stepped in to keep it going.

We were very happy EventWax users ourselves and couldn't stand the idea of losing our beloved event registration tool.

Also, EventWax.com is about to roll out a big, new release in the coming month. So, we are very much growing our user base of event organizers.

Cheers,
--Kevin
